  • United Way of Connecticut is launching a grocery assistance fund to give $25 gift cards to families losing SNAP benefits under new eligibility rules. State Reps. Jaime Foster and Jen Leeper helped raise $50,000 (donated) to support local agencies that will distribute the cards.  Connecticut Public

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Milford officials have approached Stew Leonard's about opening a new grocery store after talks stalled in Orange — they are now discussing potential sites including a 68,000 sqft location at Silver Sands Plaza. The grocer, based in Norwalk, may finalize plans based on detailed store needs.  The Hour

CULTURE NEWS

  • District Music Hall will host its third annual 'I’ll Be Home for Christmas' on Dec. 13 at 6 p.m. featuring Grammy and Oscar-winning vocalist Lisa Fischer along with local talent, supporting nonprofits that offer music education and adaptive recreation services.  Nancy On Norwalk

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Fairfield University’s most selective cycle admitted 5,305 of over 20,000 applicants for the Class of 2029 with a 25% acceptance rate. Early Action decisions will come between Dec. 20 and Jan. 15, Early Decision 2 on Feb. 15, and regular decisions on April 1.  The Hour
  • Brien McMahon High School senior Luis Acosta Chinchilla was awarded a full four-year QuestBridge scholarship to attend Wesleyan University. The award covers tuition, housing, and other costs and recognizes his academic excellence (he pursues marine science in Norwalk).  Nancy On Norwalk

  • Connecticut boys and girls soccer players earned All-America honors from United Soccer Coaches for their performance in the fall season.  The Hour
  • Fifteen high school girls ice hockey players have been named for the 2025-26 CHSGHA season based on standout numbers from last season (including top performers from Darien, Stamford, Hamden, and New Canaan). The list spotlights talent set to boost local school teams.  The Hour
