BUSINESS NEWS

  • Twin Peaks filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on Monday to manage unsustainable debt, yet its restaurants will keep operating and plans to expand into Connecticut remain on track. The chain is partnering with New London Hospitality to open locations in key markets in the state.  The Hour
  • Vitality Fresh Juice opened at 127 Washington St today and makes fresh juices with 100% organic ingredients. Four new businesses will soon launch on Washington St, including Norwalk Bagel Co., Brass and Bone, Terra Mare and The Piccolina Shop.  The Hour

CULTURE NEWS

  • A Connecticut journalist mistakenly received a package with a Machamp sheet of 110 rare Pokémon cards valued up to $14,100. He contacted the sender, whose son won the sheet in a tournament in Columbus, and arranged to return it.  The Hour

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Rep. Jim Himes visited Brookside Elementary School in Norwalk as part of his annual Valentines for Vets program, where students made cards for local veterans. Over 50 schools and youth groups contributed (including Brookside), and the cards will be delivered to veterans across Fairfield County as the holiday approaches.  News 12 Connecticut

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Gov. Ned Lamont proposed a rebate plan that could give residents about $400 to offset rising energy bills — he shared the idea on Jan. 29 at the CBIA Economic Summit and said he would discuss it with legislators to ease cost-of-living pressures.  The Hour

HEALTH NEWS

  • After Sunday's storm, residents finished clearing driveways but should not forget to clear roof snow safely—experts warn that heavy accumulation can lead to leaks and structural damage. Homeowners are advised to use non-metallic tools from the ground or hire insured professionals to check roofs for damage.  The Hour

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • On Jan. 24, a pipe break flooded units at Halstead Apartments, forcing over 200 residents to evacuate amid heavy snow — some, including Manuel LaCourt's family, returned on Jan. 28 to collect belongings as the landlord arranges hotel stays.  The Hour
  • The Norwalk Planning and Zoning Commission approved converting the top three floors of the 200 Connecticut Ave. office building into 35 apartments (including four affordable units) while keeping offices below. Construction will begin in April or May, with conversion expected to take 12 to 18 months.  The Hour
