- ➤ On Tuesday, June 3, more than 90 residents gathered at City Hall to speak against teacher layoffs and cuts to arts programs in Norwalk Public Schools. The meeting was moved to the Concert Hall, delaying its start by nearly 30 minutes, and the budget vote was postponed with plans to allow remote public comments at a later special meeting. - ➤ Connecticut lawmakers approved two bills after a CT Insider investigation revealed that CSCU Chancellor Terrence Cheng used state-funded accounts for lavish meals and travel—measurements that lawmakers say will tighten audits and require future state college leaders to live in Connecticut. - ➤ The Connecticut Senate approved a $55.8 billion two-year budget Tuesday that now heads to Gov. Lamont for his expected signature — legislators may adjust it before the session ends Wednesday to address issues with a hospital tax increase.
