- ➤ CT DOT has proposed a 5% Metro-North fare increase starting in September with an additional 5% rise planned for next summer—officials said the adjustments will help cover rising costs and maintain rail services. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Norwalk began delivering new 65-gallon trash bins with a red lid to most eligible households as it moves to an automated waste collection system in July. Starting July 1, commercial properties and apartments will need to use private haulers while residents must use the new bins to have their waste picked up & help standardize the service. The Hour
- ➤ Gov. Ned Lamont announced he will veto a housing bill that required towns to zone for a set number of affordable housing units — he argued the targets went too far. The Hour
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Connecticut hospitals now pay much higher fees that have doubled in less than a decade—Sharon Hospital’s fees jumped from under $1 million to over $7 million a year—raising concerns about whether these costs improve patient care.
