- ➤ Norwalk will host its annual Independence Day Concert and Fireworks Celebration on July 3 at Calf Pasture Beach with a rain date on July 5— the event will feature live music, food trucks and a fireworks display over Long Island Sound. Local DJ Nuzzo will perform at 5 p.m.— he will return after the fireworks while band Soul Amazing plays from 7:15 to 8:45 with the fireworks starting around 8:55. Nancy On Norwalk
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Connecticut Attorney General William Tong said the state is considering all legal options after learning that Avelo Airlines operated removal flights for ICE deportations following a protest at Tweed New Haven Regional Airport on April 17. In May, Avelo conducted five removal flights—2.5% of the total—and the state is urging transparency on the airline's contract with the federal agency. The Hour
- ➤ The Norwalk Common Council held a public hearing on Tuesday, June 24 to gather input on proposed charter revisions that would update council compensation, term limits, and review timelines—public comments raised concerns about political representation and bundling of measures. - ➤ Governor Ned Lamont vetoed a housing reform bill that required towns to set affordable housing targets and loosened local rules—he said the provisions took too much control away from local officials.
