- ➤ Train fares increased 5% for Metro-North and CT Rail lines starting Monday, with South Norwalk to Grand Central peak fares now $18.25 and off-peak fares $13.50. The state DOT approved the hike on July 30 to help support ongoing rail service upgrades — including projects like the upcoming WALK Bridge upgrade in Norwalk. News 12 Connecticut

- ➤ In Monday's Powerball drawing, Connecticut winners collected a $150,000 prize and a $50,000 prize from over 57,000 winning tickets. The overall jackpot increased to $1.3 billion for Wednesday's drawing and the winner can choose between a lump sum of $589 million or an annuity with 29 payments that increase by 5% each year. - ➤ A new labor report from UConn School of Medicine shows that over 30,000 cases of workplace illness occurred in CT in 2023 with carpal tunnel syndrome and tendonitis making up nearly half—pointing to the need for employers to protect workers from injuries affecting bones, muscles and tendons.
